Three CNA members reacted, in a press release, after a recommendation published on institution’s website by Laura Georgescu, CNA president. According to the announcement published by her, CNA recommends to the TV stations to promote the informational campaign on Constitution’s modification.
Narcisa Iorga, Valentin Jucan and Florin Gabrea say this type of recommendations cannot be made in the name of the institution unless the subject is discussed during a public meeting and if it passes Council’s vote.
“The recommendation made by CNA’s president, Laura Georgescu, towards broadcasters is illegal and was made, in the best case scenario, as a personal one, but not in CNA’s name”, a press release signed by the 3 CNA member says.
At her turn, Georgescu rejects the accusations and says a recent modification of the Audiovisual Code stipulates that “public interest campaigns don’t need anymore Council’s approval, as they are considered non-commercial campaigns, and there are certain criteria they need to meet” .
