UPC Romania aims for a launch on the IPTV market and wants to broadcast via internet over 200 TVs, according to documentation submitted to CNA, quoted by Mediafax.
UPC Romania demanded CNA to give it, for this purpose, a retransmission authorization for an IPTV electronic communications network. For this network, UPC has a certification from ANCOM, dated January 30th 2013, according to the documents submitted to the Council.
From the 200 TVs UPC intends to broadcast online, 20 are HD and two are 3D. Among the stations UPC wants to broadcast online are the TVs operated by Pro TV S.A., SRTv, Antena TV Group, but also other Romanian TVs such as B1 TV, Favorit TV, Kanal D, Kiss TV, Look TV, Money Channel, Neptun TV, Prima TV, Realitatea TV, Romania TV, Travel Mix, Trinitas TV and UTV.
In UPC's IPTV schedule there will be also TVs from Discovery Networks, Chello Central Europe, National Geographic, National Geographic HD, National Geographic Wild, National Geographic Wild HD, Turner , Universal Networks, Euronews, Eurosport, Deutsche Welle, FilmBox, France 24, Russia Today TV, AXN, AXN Crime, AXN Sci-Fi, Bloomberg, CBS Reality, DaVinci Learning, History Channel, History Channel HD, Mezzo, BBC Entertainment, Pro7, M6, TV 1000, Viasat Explorer, Viasat History, Viasat History HD etc.
According to the documentation submitted to CNA, the estimated number of subscribers at UPC Romania's IPTV network is of 10,000. CNA approved, on June 20th, UPC's demand, but the company didn't make yet an announcement on its plans related to IPTV TV.
