A part of Romanian audience can’t see Pro TV anymore, after the channel exit the must carry list, last summer. Some cable operators didn’t accept the payment conditions imposed by the company.
Starting last summer until this moment, 30 small cable operators removed Pro’s channels from their programs schedules, according to information obtained by Paginademedia.ro from CNA. Besides those, another 16 operators submitted documents to inform CNA on removing the mentioned channels from their programs schedule.
Among those cable operators are Akta Telecom Bucuresti (covering more localities in Iasi county), Digi Communication Sovata (Mures), Lida Prod Zimnicea (Teleorman), N&B TV SRL (covering localities in Arad and Caras-Severin), Next Sart (Iasi), Digital CATV (Buzau) and International Olisat (Bacau).
At 2012 level, there were active in Romania a number of 380 cable operators, according to data published in Media Express Annual Report, quoted by Forbes.
Pro TV decided to exit must carry starting July 23rd 2013. After Pro TV’s move, more cable operators needed to pay in order to retransmit Pro TV SA’s channels.
At the same moment, Pro TV announced the prices the cable operators should have paid for retransmitting Pro TV. The start price in the discussions with the cable operators is Euro 1 per subscriber per month for the entire package of channels which includes ProTV, Acasa TV, Acasa Gold, Pro Cinema, Sport.ro, ProTV International and MTV.
The price will stand as announced for 4 years, starting February 1st 2014; discounts will be applied depending of the number of subscribers. The discounts vary from 0% for cable operators with up to 300,000 subscribers to 66,66% when the operator has over 3M subscribers.
